Crispian St. Peters, born Robin Peter Smith on April 5, 1939, in Swanley, Kent, is a British singer known for his work in pop and folk music. He began performing as a teenager with local bands and later joined Beat Formula Three, where he caught the attention of EMI publicist David Nicholson. Under Nicholson's management, Smith adopted the stage name Crispian St. Peters. In 1965, St. Peters signed to Decca Records and released his first two singles, "No No No" and "At This Moment", which did not chart highly. His breakthrough came in 1966 with the release of "You Were on My Mind", a cover of Ian & Sylvia's song, which reached number 2 on the UK Singles Chart. This was followed by his signature song "The Pied Piper", which became a Top 10 hit in both the US and UK. His debut album Follow Me... was released later that year. St. Peters' career declined after controversial statements which cast him in an unpopular light. He was dropped by Decca in 1970 and signed with Square Records, releasing several singles and throughout the 1970s and 1980s including Simply (1970) and "Do Daddy Do" (1974). St. Peters continued to perform on nostalgia tours until his retirement in 2001. He passed away on June 8, 2010, at the age of 71.
