Winford Lindsey "Wynn" Stewart, born on June 7, 1934, in Morrisville, Missouri, was an American country music singer and songwriter. After moving to California, Stewart formed a band and signed his first recording contract with Intro Records in 1954. In 1956, he signed with Capitol Records and achieved his first major hit with "Waltz of the Angels". Stewart later moved to Jackpot Records and Challenge Records and had a breakthrough with "Wishful Thinking" in 1959. His career peaked in 1967 with "It's Such a Pretty World Today", which topped the country music chart for two weeks and was named Country Music Song of the Year. He continued to release successful albums and singles throughout the 1960s and 1970s, including collaborations with Jan Howard on Sweethearts of Country Music. Stewart died of a heart attack on July 17, 1985.
