Angel Dust, a German power metal band from Dortmund, was formed in 1984. The original lineup included Frank Banx on bass, Dirk Assmuth on drums, Andreas Lohrum and Roman "Romme" Keymer on guitars, with Keymer also handling vocals. In 1985, they released their first demo, followed by their debut album Into the Dark Past in 1986. The band's thrash metal sound was influenced by both American and German scenes. Their second album, To Dust You Will Decay, was released in 1988 with a new lineup that included Stefan K. Nauer and Winni Hirsch on guitars and S.L. Coe on vocals. Angel Dust toured with Running Wild before disbanding in 1988. The band reformed in 1997, releasing four albums between 1998 and 2002 under Century Media Records. After several lineup changes and a brief hiatus, Angel Dust returned in 2016 with remastered versions of their early albums.
