Gabi Delgado was a Spanish-born German composer, lyricist, and producer. He grew up in Córdoba (Spain). His family moved to Germany when he was 8 years old ("My father had to leave Spain under Franco"), where they lived in Remscheid, Wuppertal, Dortmund and Düsseldorf. He was best known as the singer and co-founder—alongside Robert Görl in 1978—of the pioneering German electronic band Deutsch Amerikanische Freundschaft (DAF), with whom he released seven albums. In 1990, he formed the band Delkom with Saba Komossa, and in 1995, he launched DAF/DOS with Wotan Wilke. Delgado also released four solo albums throughout his career. In 2004 Gabi Delgado and Marc Hurtado (ÉTANT DONNÉS, SOL IXENT) founded the project Neue Weltumfassende Resistance. Between then and 2018, they recorded numerous works together and performed twice—once at the IDEAL Festival in Nantes and again at LUFF in Lausanne in 2006. Delgado passed away in 2020. In 2025 the Berlin based record label play loud! productions released the first recordings from those Delgado/Hurtado sessions.
