Yael Kraus, born on November 21, 1977, in Israel, is a singer-songwriter known for her contributions to art rock and rock music. Coming from an artistic family, Kraus studied traditional Bulgarian singing and classical modern music with avant-garde virtuoso Fred Frith. Her early career included collaborations with various Israeli musicians such as Assaf Amdursky, Yoni Bloch, Ivri Lider, and Tzach Drori. In 2008, she released the album Bussa on NMC Music, featuring bossa nova covers of popular Israeli songs, and performed the theme song for the TV series On the Fingertips. Kraus's debut solo album, Boutique, was released in 2010. Produced by Daniel Koren and mixed by Tamir Muskat of the Balkan Beat Box, it showcased her unique art rock style. She is also a frequent collaborator with Roy Yarkoni and other musicians under the art rock act Panic Ensemble, performing at the Israel Festival and several European live shows.
