After the Rain, commonly abbreviated as AtR or SoraMafu, is a Japanese music duo formed under the NBCUniversal Entertainment Japan label. The group was created by two members: Soraru and Mafumafu, both of whom were previously recognized for their covers on the video-sharing site Niconico. Before officially adopting the name After the Rain, the duo was active under the moniker Soraru X Mafumafu or Sorairo Muffler, collaborating on videos and hosting the radio show Hikikomoranai Radio. The duo's journey as After the Rain officially began with the release of their self-published albums After the Rain Quest (2014) and Prerhythm Arch (2015). Their roles are distinct yet collaborative: Soraru handles vocals, mixing, and mastering, while Mafumafu oversees vocals, songwriting, and arrangement. Their name After the Rain, reflects their wish to move forward after times of sadness and pain. In 2015, they held the After the Rain Winter Tour in multiple Japanese cities. In April 2016, they released their major-label studio debut Crocrest Story, reaching number 2 on the Oricon Albums Chart. The following year, they released two singles, "Kaidoku Funō" and "Anticlockwise," which served as the opening and ending themes for two different anime series. In 2018, the duo held a concert at the Saitama Super Arena, drawing 36,000 fans over two days. They also released their second album, Izanaware Traveler, which obtained gold certification. In November 2019, their track "1・2・3" became the theme song for Pokémon. In 2023, their LP I'm Your Hero hit number 53 on Line Music Japan's Top 100.
