Anne Haigis was born on 9 December 1955 in Rottweil, West Germany, and emerged as a German singer whose early training included flute and guitar. Her breakthrough came in the early 1980s when she released the debut album For Here Where the Life Is (1981) and followed it with Fingernails (1982), establishing her presence in the German pop and blues scene. In 1984 she issued the German-language album Anne Haigis, which produced the chart‑topper "Freundin" and led to frequent appearances on national television. The 1987 album Geheime Zeichen, produced by Tony Carey, and the 1989 release Indigo earned critical acclaim, with Indigo receiving a German pop music Grammy. After moving to English-language material, she recorded No Man's Land with Tony Carey and Eric Burdon (1990) and later Cry Wolf (1992) in Los Angeles and Nashville, collaborating with artists such as Kevin McCormick and Nils Lofgren. The live album Dancing in the Fire (1997) showcased her acoustic shift, while 8:00 pm (2005) and Good Day for the Blues (2007) reflected her continued exploration of blues. In 2011 she toured Germany with Wanderlust, and her 2015 album 15 Companions reaffirmed her enduring relevance in German music.
