James Saburo Shigeta, born on June 17, 1929 in Honolulu, Hawaii, was an American singer known for his contributions to pop music and traditional pop genres. His breakthrough moment came with the posthumous release of his album Scene One / We Speak the Same Language on June 29, 2018. Shigeta also had a notable acting career, appearing in films such as The Crimson Kimono (1959), for which he won the Golden Globe for New Star of the Year – Actor in 1960. He passed away on July 28, 2014, leaving behind a notable body of work that continues to be celebrated posthumously.
