MellowHype, an American hip hop duo from Los Angeles, California, consisted of Gerard Long (Hodgy Beats) and Vyron Turner (Left Brain), both members of the hip-hop collective Odd Future. They began collaborating around 2006 or 2007, with Left Brain producing and Hodgy Beats rapping. Their debut mixtape, YelloWhite (2010), gained significant attention following the release of Tyler, The Creator's single "Yonkers" (2011). The duo re-released their debut studio album, BlackenedWhite (2011), on Fat Possum Records, which included the lead single "64". Their second studio album, Numbers (2012), featured collaborations with Frank Ocean, Mike G, and Earl Sweatshirt. In 2015, Hodgy Beats announced that MellowHype would disband, although they made music together under different projects. In 2017, they announced they were working together again.
