Atargatis, a metal band from Germany, was formed in 1997 in Regensburg, Bavaria. The group initially gained traction with their third recording, which featured the hit song "Angels Crying", topping the download charts on www.mp3.de for several years. This success led to a contract with Massacre Records and the release of their first official album Wasteland in March 2006. The album, recorded at Helion Studios, included collaborations with musicians from Darkseed and Leaves' Eyes. Despite mixed reviews, Atargatis built a loyal fanbase. Their subsequent album Nova, released in November 2007, featured contributions from Crematory and Empyrium, further solidifying their status in the genre. The band toured extensively, including the Pray over Europe Tour with Crematory in January 2008. Atargatis' activities ceased in 2010 but resumed in 2012.
