Alexander Gadjiev, born on December 23, 1994 in Italy, is an Italian-Slovenian classical pianist. He began his musical education at the Mozarteum University Salzburg under Pavel Gililov and later continued his studies at the Hochschule für Musik Hanns Eisler Berlin with Eldar Nebolsin. Gadjiev's breakthrough came in 2015 when he won first prize at the Hamamatsu International Piano Competition. Gadjiev released his debut album Literary Fantasies in 2017. In 2019, he joined the BBC New Generation Artists scheme, which was extended to 2022 due to the COVID-19 pandemic. His notable achievements include winning second prize ex aequo and the Special Prize for the Best Performance of a Sonata at the XVIII International Chopin Piano Competition in 2021, as well as first prize and six other prizes at the 2021 Sydney International Piano Competition.
