Charles Martin Murphy, known as Chuck Murphy, was born on May 16, 1955 in the United States of America. He started playing guitar at age 12 and joined the U.S. Navy after high school. After his military service, he attended college in Jacksonville, Florida, where he began performing solo on the East Coast. In 1990, Murphy formed Maxwell's Café, which released the album Stories From with the single "White Lies" in 1992. His first solo EP, Peace Be With You, co-produced by Murphy and Jeff Silverman, was released in September 2016 and reached Number 1 on the Billboard charts in November of that year. Notable songs include "I Know", "How Many Times""Cowgirls" and "Falling Star". In 2016, he won the Independent Music Network Award for Favorite Country Impact Artist and the New Music Award from New Music Weekly Magazine for AC Breakthrough Artist of the Year.
