The Wirtschaftswunder, a German NDW electronic and rock band formed in 1980, featured an international lineup including the Sicilian Angelo Galizia on vocals, Czech Tom Dokoupil on guitar, Candian Mark Pfurtscheller on keyboards and German Jurgen Beuth on drums. Their breakthrough came with "Der Kommissar", a track from Die Limburger Pest that became an underground hit. The band's debut LP, Salmobray, released in early 1981, showcased experimental and punk-influenced sounds. Legal disputes following their signing with Deutsche Grammophon prevented them from capitalizing on their success. Their second LP, The Wirtschaftswunder, featured a more pop-oriented sound combined with experimental elements. The band disbanded in 1985.
