East Flatbush Project is the professional moniker of Spencer Bellamy, an American hip hop record producer from Brooklyn, New York, who was born in 1969. He achieved early professional recognition in 1994 and is famous for the single “Tried by 12” (1996), which became a significant underground success. Bellamy established the label 10/30 Uproar Records to release his material, including the debut singles “A Madman's Dream” (1994) and “Can't Hold It Back” (1994). His discography includes the EP First Born (2008) and the singles “Everything We Spit Is Hard” (2000) and “Head to Head” (2001). In 2011, the instrumental version of “Tried by 12” gained further notoriety when it was utilized by DJ Premier for the Shady 2.0 cypher at the BET Hip Hop Awards, featuring Eminem and members of the ensemble Slaughterhouse. Bellamy has also performed and released music under the name Spencer 4 Hire.
