Stefano Benini, born in 1955 in Verona, Italy, is an Italian jazz flutist and composer. He completed a classical flute study at the Giuseppe Verdi Conservatory in Turin in 1981 and subsequently focused on jazz music. During his training years, he attended seminars led by Mal Waldron, Steve Lacy, and Kevin Eubanks. Benini's breakthrough came with the Tu Whit Tu Whoo Trio, which released their debut album Tu Whit, Tu Whoo in 1989, featuring indian-influenced world music. Benini's discography includes albums such as Flute Connection (1995) and Groovin' Flute (2006). He has collaborated with numerous musicians, including Ruud Brink, Zeena Parkins, Myra Melford, and Lee Konitz.
