Chiyo Okumura, born Konno Chiyo on February 18, 1947, in Ikeda, Osaka, is a Japanese pop singer. She began her career as a fashion model before transitioning into music. Her debut single "Anata ga Inakutemo" was released in 1965. Chiyo Okumura's breakthrough came with the release of "Kitaguni no Aoi Sora" in August 1967, which gained significant popularity. She continued to release successful albums and singles throughout the late 1960s and early 1970s, including Jun*Tomoko*Chiyo (1969), あなたとチヨと... (Anata to Chiyo to...) (1969), and "Koi no Dorei" ("Slave of Love") in October 1969. Her cover of The Ventures' recording, "Hokkaido Skies", sold over 1 million copies and earned her a gold disc award. Other notable releases include あなた好みの…チヨ (Anata Konomi no... Chiyo) (1969), ジュン・知子・チヨ 第二集 (Jun Tomoko Chiyo Dai Ni Shuu) (1970), and "Shuuchakueki" ("Terminal Station") in December 1971. Chiyo Okumura's career spanned over four decades, with her final album チヨ・筒美京平を唄う released in 2010. On January 6, 2018, she announced her retirement from the music industry.
