Seán Ó Síocháin, born on March 24, 1914, in Cill na Martra, County Cork, Ireland, was a singer known for his contributions to Celtic and World music. He began his musical journey as a ballad singer, gaining national recognition through broadcasts on Radió Éireann programs such as Ireland is Singing, Round the Fire, and Balladmakers' Saturday Night. Ó Síocháin's first album, Ceolta Éireann, was released in 1960. He toured the United States multiple times with Irish singers and was also a member of the Dublin Grand Opera Society. Throughout his career, he balanced his musical endeavors with roles as a Gaelic footballer, hurler, broadcaster, and administrator for the Gaelic Athletic Association (GAA). Ó Síocháin served as the GAA's General-Secretary from 1964 to 1972, when the title was changed to Director-General. He held this position until his retirement in 1979. Ó Síocháin passed away on February 2, 1997.
