Anne La Berge, born in 1955 in Palo Alto, California, is a flutist, composer, and improviser. She began her musical journey under the influence of her violinist mother and neuropsychologist father. In the mid-1980s, while pursuing PhD research at the University of California, San Diego, La Berge formed a duo with John Fonville, exploring extended techniques on flute, particularly microtonal scales. She moved to Amsterdam in 1989 and founded Kraakgeluiden, an improvisation series, in 1999 with Steve Heather and Cor Fuhler. Her discography includes Speak (2011) featuring collaborations with Cor Fuhler and others, as well as numerous other releases. She has received funding from various Dutch arts funds and directs the Volsap Foundation.
