Forming in Chingford, east London in 2004, the Rifles took the noughties indie-rock movement by storm, drawing inspiration from classic Britpop bands like the Jam, the Clash, and the Kinks to garner critical acclaim with their debut album, No Love Lost (2006), produced by Ian Broudie of the Lightning Seeds fame. Generating standout tracks such as "Local Boy" and "Peace & Quiet," the LP reached number 48 in the UK and helped the band to gain a following. Known for their catchy melodies and energetic performances, Joel Stoker (vocals, guitar), Lucas Crowther (guitar), Rob Pyne (bass), and Grant Marsh (drums) continued their success with subsequent albums: Great Escape (2009), Freedom Run (2011), None the Wiser (2014), and Big Life (2016), which all made it into the UK's official Top 40. They returned in July 2024 after an eight-year break with another record of anthem-packed, cheeky chappie fare via new offering Love Your Neighbour.
