Calbony M'Bani, known professionally as Calbo, was born on 22 September 1972 in Brazzaville, Congo, and grew up in the Parisian suburbs, where he discovered hip‑hop culture. In 1992 he co‑founded the rap duo Ärsenik, and the group quickly established itself in French rap. Calbo’s solo career began with the 2013 single "C'est là-bas" and continued with "Hiphopcrisis" (2020), "J'écris" (2022) and "Les Aléas" (2022). His debut solo album Quelques Gouttes de Plus was released on 24 June 2022. Calbo’s influence was recognized through multiple chart entries and cultural milestones, including his autobiographies published in 2021 and 2025. He passed away on 4 January 2026, leaving a legacy honored by peers and cultural officials alike.
