La K-Bine, a French politically engaged hardcore rap group from Aulnay-sous-Bois, Seine-Saint-Denis, was formed in 1997. The group consisted of rappers Skalpel and Guez, along with DJ Akye (BboyKonsian). They were often accompanied on stage by E.One (Eskicit), Sheryo, and Pisko Mc, who also produced instrumentals under the name Carneperro Prod. La K-Bine released their first EP, Le rap est mort?, in 2001. In February 2003, they released the compilation 93 Seine... through Menace Records, followed by their debut album, Rapport de force, later that year, with Skalpel producing 19 of its 20 tracks. The group participated in the concept album Échec et Mat alongside LMC Click and had their songs aired on Radio Libertaire. Their second studio album, Légitime défense, was released in 2009. La K-Bine's music was known for its politically engaged lyrics, addressing issues such as neo-colonialism, capitalism, police brutality, racism, and media control.
