Judy Ongg, born on January 24, 1950 in Taipei, Taiwan, is a Taiwanese-Japanese singer and actress. She graduated from Sophia University in Tokyo and became a naturalized Japanese citizen. Her music career began with recordings for Columbia Records, CBS Sony, and Toshiba EMI. In 1979, she released "Miserarete", which sold two million copies and won the Japan Record Award at the 21st Japan Record Awards. Ongg has had multiple songs appear on the NHK program Minna no Uta, and appeared on the New Year's Eve spectacular KÅhaku Uta Gassen with "Miserarete" in 1979 and "Reika no Yume" in 1980.
