Abid Ghoffar bin Aboe Dja’far, known as Ebiet G. Ade, was born on April 21, 1954, in Wonodadi, Banjarnegara, Central Java, Indonesia. He began his musical journey by joining the artists' community in Yogyakarta during high school. In 1979, Ebiet G. Ade released his debut studio album Camellia I, which featured notable songs such as "Lagu untuk Sebuah Nama" and sold over two million copies. Throughout his career, he continued to release albums, including Kupu-Kupu Kertas in 1995. His songs often address themes of disaster and love, such as "Berita Kepada Kawan", inspired by the Dieng Plateau poisonous gas disaster in June 1978. He was recognized by Rolling Stone Indonesia as one of the 50 Greatest Indonesian Singers.
