Anders | Fahrenkrog was formed in Germany in 2011 by former Modern Talking vocalist Thomas Anders and producer Uwe Fahrenkrog‑Petersen. Anders, brought decades of pop experience, while Uwe Fahrenkrog‑Petersen, had produced international hits such as "99 Luftballons" for Nena. Their collaboration began in May 2011, with Thomas Anders handling vocals and Uwe Fahrenkrog‑Petersen overseeing songwriting and production. The duo’s first single, "Gigolo", entered the German singles chart at number 40, marking their initial breakthrough. In 2011, the album Two was released, reaching number 11 on the German album charts and establishing the group’s presence in the dance and electronic scene. A second single, "No More Tears on the Dancefloor", was issued in September 2011 in partnership with the DJ project Vinylshakerz; the track was written by former Savage Garden singer Darren Hayes. The duo’s sound blended 1980s Eurodance with contemporary dance and electro beats, earning them a dedicated following in Germany’s club circuit.
