Cotzraiz was a German punk band from the Ruhrgebiet region, formed in 1994. The group is known for their unique style of music, which they termed "Cotzrock," blending elements of punk with an anarchist ethos. Cotzraiz's early releases included Frühe, rare & äußerst schlechte Aufnahmen (1996) and cz2x9 (1999), both released on their own label, Cotz-Rock Recotz. Their debut album, Heil Cotzraiz, was released in 2002 under Scumfuck Records, featuring provocative artwork and controversial themes that sparked debate within the punk community. The band continued with 1000 Jahre Cotzraiz in 2005, also on Scumfuck Records, and later released Fehlpressung in 2011 under Sunny Bastards. Despite facing criticism and occasional misinterpretations of their political stance, Cotzraiz maintained a strong presence in the punk scene, known for their independent spirit and DIY ethos.
