Yachts, a British power pop/new wave band formed in April 1977 in Liverpool, emerged from an earlier R&B group known as Albert Dock. Their first show at Eric's nightclub supporting Elvis Costello led to a recording contract with Stiff Records and the release of their debut single "Suffice to Say" in 1977. After signing with Radar Records, they released singles like "Look Back in Love (Not in Anger)" (1978) and "Yachting Type" (1978), and their debut album, Yachts, produced by Richard Gottehrer, was released in 1979. The band toured with Joe Jackson and the Who, and their second album, Without Radar, produced by Martin Rushent, followed in 1980. Yachts disbanded in 1981 after Dempsey's departure.
