Jon-Erik Kellso, born on May 8, 1964 in Dearborn, Michigan, is an American jazz trumpeter and cornetist. He began his professional career at age 11, initially performing with symphony orchestras before transitioning to traditional jazz. In 1981, he had the opportunity to perform with Wild Bill Davison. After studying at Wayne State University, Kellso played with ensembles such as New McKinney's Cotton Pickers and J.C. Heard Orchestra. In 1989, he moved to New York City, where he worked extensively in the swing and mainstream jazz scenes. Notable collaborations include projects with Ruby Braff (Being with You, 1996), Marty Grosz (Ring Dem Bells, 1995), and The World’s Greatest Jazz Band. Kellso has released several albums under his own name, including Chapter 1 (2006) and Blue Roof Blues: A Love Letter to New Orleans (2007). He also contributed to Catherine Russell's Grammy-nominated album Alone Together (2019).
