Anthony Paratore, born on June 17, 1944, in Boston, Massachusetts, is an American classical pianist. Alongside his brother Joseph, he formed the internationally acclaimed piano duo Anthony & Joseph Paratore. He studied at Boston University and Juilliard School under Rosina Lhévinne and graduated from Boston University in 1966. He initially pursued a solo career but were encouraged to perform as a duo with his brother by their teacher due to their synchronized playing style. Their breakthrough came in 1974 when they won the first prize at the International Music Competition of the ARD, becoming the first piano duo to achieve this honor. He and his brother performed extensively, including notable works such as Alban Berg's transcription of Arnold Schönberg's Chamber Symphony and Johannes Brahms' "Sonata for Two Pianos in F minor, Op. 34b". The duo also collaborated with composers like Manfred Trojahn and Wolfgang Rihm, who wrote pieces specifically for them.
