Lucila Campos, born Clara Lucila Campos Marcial on August 16, 1938, in Lima, Peru, was a Peruvian singer known for her contributions to criolla and afroperuana music. Her musical journey began at nine when she participated in a local singing festival. In 1957, Campos started her professional career as a soloist with the group Gente Morena de Pancho Fierro. She later joined Perú Negro in 1969, winning the Festival Hispanoamericano de la Danza y la Canción in Buenos Aires that year. As a solo artist signed to Virrey Industrias Musicales, Campos released her debut album Toro Mata in 1973. Her career spanned multiple decades, including successful tours across the United States, Japan, and Germany. Campos passed away on December 12, 2016, leaving behind a musical legacy that included approximately thirty recordings across various genres.
