Bobby Rivas is a Salvadoran salsa and balladeer singer, composer, actor, and musician. Born in El Salvador to a Nicaraguan father and a Salvadoran mother, Rivas began singing at age six and joined the Chucho Tovar Flores orchestra at thirteen, relocating to Los Angeles. In 1977, Rivas joined the L.A. Compañía orchestra. He formed his own ensemble in 1980, performing at the Hollywood Palladium as an opening act for Celia Cruz and Rubén Blades. Rivas co-founded The Los Angeles Salsa All Stars with Alex Acuña and Luis Conte. In 1986, he received first prize at the OTI Festival in Los Angeles. His filmography included roles in Pesadilla en las Vegas and L.A. Confidential. Rivas provided the voice for Sebastian in the Spanish-language version of The Little Mermaid. His music appeared in the television series The Shield FX. His discography featured the album Doble Sentido (2003).
