Big Heavy Stuff was an Australian indie rock band formed in 1990 in Sydney by Greg Atkinson, Darren Atkinson, Carolyn Polley, and Darren Jones. They released their debut EP, Pops Like Crazy, in 1991, which included a cover of "Superstar" by The Carpenters. Their first full-length album, Truck, followed in 1993. After lineup changes, Big Heavy Stuff signed with Redline Records and released Size of the Ocean in 2001, featuring the single "Hibernate", which reached number 77 on Triple J's Hottest 100 chart. The band disbanded in 2006 but reunited briefly in 2009 and 2010. In 2025, they released Bruises, which consisted of Covered in Bruises in its entirety, along with twelve additional songs recorded between 1995 and 1997, and the album peaked at number 18 on ARIA's Australian Albums chart.
