Arvin "Arv" Garrison, born on August 17, 1922 in Toledo, Ohio, was an American bebop jazz guitarist. He began his musical career with a trio in 1941, which later became known as the Vivien Garry Trio after his wife, bassist Vivien Garry. The trio operated until 1948. Garrison's breakthrough moment came in 1946 when he participated in the Dial Sessions with Dizzy Gillespie and Charlie Parker. He played guitar on notable tracks such as "Diggin' Diz" and "Yardbird Suite". In October 1946, he collaborated with Howard McGhee and Teddy Edwards for four titles. Garrison continued to work in his hometown of Toledo throughout the 1950s. His contributions were posthumously recognized with the release of The Unknown Arv Garrison: Wizard of the Six String in 2021.
