Mandalaband, a progressive rock band from the United Kingdom, was formed in 1974 by David Rohl. Inspired by Tibetan Buddhism, Rohl created "Om Mani Padme Hum", a 20-minute musical piece that became the foundation for Mandalaband’s debut album. In 1975, Chrysalis Records signed the band and sent them on tour with Robin Trower before releasing their self-titled debut album, Mandalaband. Despite initial success, Rohl left the band during recording due to creative differences. Rohl returned to music in the late 2000s after a hiatus focused on Egyptology. He reassembled Mandalaband with both new and former members, releasing BC – Ancestors in 2009 and AD – Sangreal in 2011. The band also released Resurrection, a remixed and remastered edition of their original albums from the 1970s.
