Roberto Orlando Bracone Macceialli, known as Elio Roca, was born on 3 August 1943 in Sáenz Péña, Chaco, Argentina, and became a prominent singer, songwriter, and actor. He began performing at seven on the television program Ronda Infantil and later joined the football club Ferrocarril Oeste before returning to Chaco. Roca’s first recordings appeared in 1963–1964 under the name Roberto Orlando for the Fénix label, producing several EPs such as "Estamos tristes" and "Yo quiero novia". His breakthrough came in 1965 with the single "Bella, bionda, Carina" released as Elio Roca, followed by the 1966 Polydor album El mundo de Elio Roca, which included the hit "Nadie me puede juez". The artist continued to release albums through the 1970s and 1980s, including Poema de amor (1968) and Yo canto (1971), and recorded successful singles such as "Como deseo ser tu amor" and "Contigo y aquí". Roca expanded into film and television, starring in movies like "Amor en el aire" (1967) and the telenovela Peregrina. He earned numerous awards, including a first‑place win at the 1970 Festival de Punta del Este for his composition "Cuando el amor se da", and received international recognition with a Gold Disc in Miami. After a prolific career that spanned over five decades, Elio Roca passed away on 19 December 2021 in Resistencia, Chaco, after a prolonged heart condition.
