The Oblivians, a garage punk trio from Memphis, Tennessee, formed in 1993. The band consisted of Greg Cartwright, Jack Yarber, and Eric Friedl, who alternated between instruments on stage and in the studio. Initially known as PP and the Naildrivers, they later adopted the name Oblivians and each took on the surname "Oblivian." Their first recording was "On the Go," released posthumously. The band's debut LP, Soul Food, came out in 1995 via Crypt Records. They followed with collaborations such as Walter Daniels Plays With Monsieur Jeffrey Evans & The Oblivians At Melissa's Garage and Sympathy Sessions. Their third album, Oblivians Play 9 Songs With Mr. Quintron, was released in 1997. The band disbanded in 1998 but reunited for various shows, including a European tour with The Gories in 2009. In 2013, they released the studio album Desperation through In The Red Records.
