Fred Sherry, born in 1948 in the United States, is an American cellist known for his contributions to classical music. He studied under Leonard Rose at the Juilliard School and won the Young Concert Artists International Auditions in 1968. He co-founded Speculum Musicae in 1971 and the Tashi Quartet in 1973. Throughout his career, Sherry has performed with notable orchestras such as the Los Angeles Philharmonic, New Japan Philharmonic, Boston Symphony Orchestra, and L'Orchestre de la Suisse Romande. He served as artistic director of the Chamber Music Society of Lincoln Center from 1989 to 1993 and has been a regular performer at Bargemusic since the mid-1980s. Sherry's discography includes collaborations with Chick Corea, Gary Burton, Steve Swallow, and John Zorn. He served on the faculty at the Juilliard School, Manhattan School of Music, and Mannes College The New School for Music.
