Vocal Spectrum was a barbershop quartet formed in St. Charles, Missouri, in September 2003. The group comprised Tim Waurick as tenor, Eric Dalbey as lead, Jonny Moroni as baritone, and Chris Hallam as bass. The group’s breakthrough came with the 2004 Barbershop Harmony Society International Collegiate Quartet Contest victory, followed by the 2006 International Quartet Contest championship on July 8, 2006. Their debut studio release, Vocal Spectrum, was released in 2006. It was succeeded by Vocal Spectrum II (2008), Vocal Spectrum III (2011), Vocal Spectrum IV (2013), and Vocal Spectrum V (2016). Each release featured high-range vocals and the tenor’s record-setting ability to sustain notes for upwards of 30 seconds. In 2009, the Vocal Spectrum II album earned the Contemporary A Cappella Society’s “Best Barbershop Album” award, while its single "Go the Distance" received “Best Barbershop Song.” The quartet was featured in the 2009 documentary American Harmony, and on July 8, 2023, they were inducted into the Barbershop Harmony Society Hall of Fame.
