Hanne Wieder was a German cabaret artist, singer, and actress who was born in 1925 in Münden. She received her training at the Badisches Staatstheater Karlsruhe and began her career as an ensemble member of the cabaret group Kom(m)ödchens in Düsseldorf between 1948 and 1951. During the 1960s and 1970s, she performed as a singer and appeared in numerous television programs. Her discography includes the album Hanne Wieder singt Chansons (1964) and a complete recording of Bertolt Brecht’s Die Dreigroschenoper (1968), produced with James Last. Wieder performed songs written by Friedrich Hollaender, including “Circe”, and released the singles “Enthüllungen einer Striptease-Tänzerin” (1962) and “The Moon of Alabama”. As an actress, she appeared in the films Das Mädchen Rosemarie (1958) and Das Spukschloß im Spessart (1960). She also provided the German voice for the character of the devil in the film The Exorcist and the character Morla in the radio play version of The Neverending Story. Wieder died in 1990 in Feldafing. Posthumous releases of her work include the compilation Einzigartig.
