Song Zuying, born on August 13, 1966, in Guzhang County, Hunan Province, China, is a Chinese soprano singer from the Miao ethnic minority. She began her musical journey by learning traditional Miao songs from her mother and later joined the local opera troupe in 1981. In 1985, she enrolled at the Central University for Nationalities in Beijing, where she studied folk music. Song Zuying's national career took off in 1991 with her performance on CCTV's New Year's Gala, where she sang "Petite hotte." She represented China at the 2002 FIFA World Cup gala and performed solo at Vienna’s Musikverein in 2003. Notable collaborations include duets with Placido Domingo during the 2008 Beijing Olympics closing ceremony.
