Yu Kuizhi, born on December 15, 1961, in Shenyang City, Liaoning Province, China, is a Peking opera performer of Hui Chinese ethnicity. Inspired by his mother, a music instructor, he became the lead singer in his primary school choir and was selected to learn Peking Opera at age 10. He graduated from the National Academy of Chinese Theatre Arts in 1982 and joined the China National Peking Opera Company's No. 1 Troupe. Throughout his career, he collaborated with senior artists and performed across Asia, Europe, and America. In 1992, he was promoted to a national level one performer and later served as the leader of various troupes within the company.
