Kevin Joseph Alfred Shegog, born on August 20, 1933, in Lower Turner Marsh, Tasmania, was an Australian country music singer. He taught himself guitar at nine and began performing as a teenager. In 1959, Shegog recorded his first tracks with Planet Records, Melbourne, released on the extended play Deep Down in Shegog (1959). His breakthrough came with the single "Little Kangaroo" in late 1960. Notable releases include "Wolverton Mountain" (1962), which reached number 3 on the Melbourne singles chart. He continued touring into the mid-1970s and was inducted into the Australian Country Music 'Hands of Fame' in 1983. Shegog died on November 9, 2000, in Wallaroo, South Australia.
