Oleg Fesov, born on May 23, 1963, in Tajikistan, is a musician, singer, and composer. He graduated from Dushanbe College of Arts with a major in sculpture, but later transitioned into graphic art, becoming an illustrator and artist for children's periodicals. Fesov's passion for music, nurtured since childhood when he played the violin, led him to compose and arrange his own songs. His breakthrough came at the "Voice of Asia" festival in Alma Ata, Kazakhstan, where his band Darvish received a special prize. The album Lalaiki Pamir (1993) showcases traditional oriental instruments and Fesov's emotive vocals, with lyrics in Tajik or Pamirian languages. In 1995, American audiences discovered Oleg Fesov when "Marav" was included in the world fusion boxed set Planet Soup. Despite living as an immigrant in Germany, Fesov remains deeply connected to his home country and its cultural heritage.
