Velly Joonas, born on June 9, 1955, in Kohtla-Järve, Estonia, is a soul and folk musician. She grew up in Tõrva with four siblings and was inspired by performers such as Georg Ots, Heli Lääts, and Voldemar Kuslap. Joonas began her music career as a member of amateur groups Vstretša and Pirita. One of her first notable singles was "Igal pool on see lõhn" released in 1984. She has also released several albums including Hing (2001), Väike Ingel (2010), Velly 60 (2015), and Álbum antológico (2020). In addition to her music career, Joonas is also a painter and poet, having written around 300 songs and 30 anthologies of poems.
