John Escreet, born on August 18, 1984, in Doncaster, England, is a pianist and composer known for his contributions to jazz. He moved to New York in 2006 and graduated from the Manhattan School of Music's Master’s Program in 2008, studying under Kenny Barron and Jason Moran. Escreet released his debut album Consequences in 2008, featuring musicians like David Binney and Ambrose Akinmusire. From 2011 to 2021, he worked as a sideman with Grammy Award-winning drummer Antonio Sanchez in the band Migration, recording three albums: New Life, The Meridian Suite, and Lines In The Sand. In 2020, he relocated to Los Angeles and formed a new piano trio with bassist Eric Revis and drummer Damion Reid, releasing Seismic Shift in 2022. Escreet has received notable grants for his compositions, including the Chamber Music America New Jazz Works Grant in 2009 and the South Arts Jazz Road Creative Residencies Grant in 2021.
