Roberto Szidon, born on September 21, 1941, in Porto Alegre, Brazil, was a classical pianist with an extensive international career. He gave his first concert at nine and studied composition with Karl Faust before continuing his piano education under Ilona Kabos and Claudio Arrau. Szidon's breakthrough included performing as the soloist in the premiere of Camargo Guarnieri's Concierto para piano n.° 4 in Porto Alegre on September 6, 1972. He collaborated with numerous orchestras and recorded extensively, including notable albums like Scriabin's The Complete Piano Sonatas (1976). Szidon also recorded works by Heitor Villa-Lobos and frequently performed with violinist Jenny Abel. He taught piano at the music academies in Hannover and Düsseldorf until his death on December 21, 2011.
