Vilmos Szabadi, born Szabadi Vilmos on March 10, 1959 in Hungary, is a violinist who studied under Professor Ferenc Halász at the Franz Liszt Academy of Music in Budapest. He won first prize in the Hungarian Radio Violin Competition in 1982 and the Jenő Hubay competition in 1983. Szabadi's international career began in 1988 when he performed Béla Bartók's Second Violin Concerto at the Royal Festival Hall in London with György Solti. He has released albums including Bartók : Sonata for Violin Solo / Sonata for Violin and Piano (1995) and Spohr : Duets for Two Violins, Op. 148, 150 (2002). Szabadi has been recognized with the Meritorious Artist of Hungary Award in 2020 and the Bartók-Pásztory prize. He has served as Head of Violin Department at the Liszt Ferenc Academy of Music, Budapest.
