Peter Moon, born on August 25, 1944, in Honolulu, Oʻahu, was an American ukulele player of Korean and Chinese descent. He graduated from Roosevelt High School in 1962 and the University of Hawaii at Manoa in 1968. In the late 1950s and 1960s, Moon played as a Maile Serenader with Gabby "Pops" Pahinui. In the 1970s, he managed Pahinui and co-founded The Sunday Manoa, which released Guava Jam in 1971. After the group disbanded, Moon formed The Peter Moon Band in 1979, releasing Tropical Storm, which won four Na Hoku Hanohano Awards. Throughout the 1980s and 1990s, The Peter Moon Band released numerous albums, including Cane Fire (1982) and Black Orchid (1988). Moon co-founded the Kanikapila festival in 1970 and was inducted into the Hawaiian Music Hall of Fame in 2007. He passed away on February 17, 2018.
