David Alan Meniketti, born on December 12, 1953 in Oakland, California, is an American musician known for his roles as a guitarist and vocalist. Influenced by artists such as Jimi Hendrix and John Coltrane, Meniketti began his career with the hard rock/heavy metal band Y&T in 1974. With Y&T, Meniketti released over 15 albums, including Yesterday and Today (1976) and Contagious (1987). The band's success led to over four million records sold worldwide and extensive touring. In the early 1990s, while Y&T took a break, Meniketti released his first solo album On the Blue Side (1998), followed by Meniketti (2002) and Live in Japan (2003). He has also notably collaborated with Sammy Hagar. In 2017, Meniketti became the last surviving member of Y&T's classic lineup following the deaths of Joey Alves, Phil Kennemore, and Leonard Haze.
