Taru Aura Helena Valjakka, born on September 16, 1938 in Helsinki, Finland, was a Finnish soprano singer and musicologist. She studied at the Sibelius Academy, earning a diploma in singing in 1963. Valjakka's international career began that same year with performances across Europe, North and South America, and Kazakhstan. In 1967, she won second prize at the International Singing Competition in Rio de Janeiro. Her notable operatic roles included Mimi in La Bohème and Donna Anna in Le Mariage de Figaro, as well as contemporary Finnish operas. Valjakka performed at venues such as the Savonlinna Opera Festival and internationally in Linz, Berlin, and Buenos Aires. Her discography includes albums like Segerstam: Six Songs Of Experience (1979) and The Red Line (1980).
