Born in Cologne, Germany in 1992, Sarah Engels first burst into the spotlight in 2011: still a teenager, Sarah finished as runner-up on the eighth season of Germany’s hit TV show “Deutschland sucht den Superstar,” instantly establishing herself as one of the decade’s most memorable breakout stars. The momentum was immediate: her debut single “Call My Name” and the accompanying debut album “Heartbeat” both shot straight to #2 across the German-speaking world.
Since then, Sarah Engels has become a fixture in the German Top-10 and a defining presence between pop euphoria and easy-going dancefloor energy. In fact, her career quickly expanded beyond the charts: audiences also embraced her as a TV host, juror, and actress, while she continued to push her artistic range. Most recently she stepped onto the musical stage in a leading role in “Moulin Rouge! The Musical,” and lent her voice to major film productions—voicing Ladybug in the German version of “Miraculous: Ladybug & Cat Noir – The Movie.” With her current album “Strong Girls Club” (2025), she once again launched a whole new chapter, recording songs in English for the first time.
Along the way, Engels has become one of the most inspiring voices in German social media, reaching 1.8+ million followers on Instagram and more than 700k on TikTok. She uses that reach to champion empowerment and self-belief. Guided by the motto “Strength begins within,” she also founded her own “Starke Mädchen” Foundation, advocating for young girls because—drawing from her own experience—she knows “how crucial self-confidence, inner strength, and early prevention truly are.”
